Son of an outlaw, Floyd Butterworth (Barry’s oldest son) ran a sprintcar at Ruapuna Park Speedway for a couple of seasons in 2009-2010 carrying his dad’s #21 on the tail and with “Butterworth” proudly signwriten down the side of the car. Here is a photograph of Floyd's car taken for the sponsor.

He competed in circuit racing in a variety of saloon cars including an Anglia, a Zephyr Corvette and an XU1 Torana as well as in trucks. He also raced in hill climbs and in rallies and drove a Ford Escort in the 1971 Heatway Rally. In addition he tried his hand at saloon car racing and demolition derbies at Waikaraka Park.
