Nitrous and Auto Racing - Nitrous Oxide FAQ
http://justsayn2o.com/nitrous.racing.html
Nitrous and Auto Racing In racing, nitrous is injected into an automobile's air intake to increase power. This isn't magic -- basically it is just providing more oxygen which allows more fuel to burn per stroke. The extra fuel per stroke gives you the extra power -- the nitrous just provides the oxygen needed to burn that fuel.

Nitrous for Beginners: It’s a Gas - RacingJunk News
https://www.racingjunk.com/news/drag-race-101-its-a-gas/
Running Nitrous Oxide requires that the timing be backed off (retarded), and a good rule of thumb is to retard the timing 1-1/2 to -2-degrees for every 50 horsepower of added nitrous. The reason you retard timing with nitrous, is that the air charge becomes more oxygen dense, and this results in the air/fuel mixture burning at a much higher rate.

We ended up pushing the Highpower Nitrous Pulsoids to their limits recently when doing some flow testing. Technically, they did not reach their limits even though their coils were cooked to this exteme, they still functioned correctly and did not short out.

by sg4029 » Fri Nov 04, 2011 3:59 am. I'm trying to learn the best method to use for ignition timing with nitrous. I know 1.5 to 2 degrees per 50 HP is recommended. I have a 567 CID, 15:1 CR that is built to take n2o. I will run a 400 shot on the foggers and 200 on the plates. 600 HP adds up to 24 degrees retard. The initial setting is only 32*.
nitrous line purging - how important? more ? pg 2
https://nastyz28.com/threads/nitrous-line-purging-how-important-more-pg-2.61425/
Marv D. Pat, what your purging is the air and gasous nitrous from the lines so you get the hit of liquid nitrous at the hit of the button. If you don't purge the system so you get liquid, it can take a while for the liquid to reach the solenoid / plate / nozzles. You get a VERY rich condition until the liquid fills the lines and is delivered.
