The World Pilot Gig Championships are an annual gig racing event held on the Isles of Scilly during the May Day bank holiday weekend. After a 2 year absence due to the Covid-19 pandemic the championships will return and take place between 29th April and 1st May 2022.

Pilot Gig Racing Every August during Belfast’s Harbor Fest, Come Boating is host to an annual Regatta, with visiting boats and crews coming from all parts of the northeast, and sometimes as far as the United Kingdom. We row and race a fleet of traditional wooden Cornish Pilot Gigs, a 32 foot long, six-oared rowing boat traditionally used for pilotage, harbour work and as lifeboats.
