A. A. A. Sal Perna. Victoria is soon to have a new Racing Integrity Commissioner following confirmation that Sal Perna is to step down from the role after more than 10 years. Martin Pakula, the Minister for Racing, named noted sports administrator Sean Carroll as Perna’s replacement with Carroll to begin his role from March 1, 2021.

Mr Carroll has spent just over 12 months in the role as Victorian racing’s integrity commissioner and had become aware of a number of historical sexual assault and physical abuse complaints, “including more recent matters and those that date back decades”. “These incidents are not confined to one racing code alone,” Mr Carroll said.
