The first test was in the 45+ race at the Cyclonauts Racer’s cross event in Monson, MA. The course featured a short lap with some nice side hill off camber stretches, one steep run-up, a slippery three turn chicane section, a quad barrier and a ~ 20-30 second fast section of pavement . I will have to say I really liked racing the 29er.

My race wheelset consists of Pacenti TL28 29er rims laced to new XT centerlock disc hubs. Set up nicely tubeless with Clement MXP tires. Tons of extra tire volume with the tires on a 28mm rim versus the 24mm rims I used last season. Tons of guys I know are racing on 29er takeoffs. 29er rims are 700 rims, just typically wider and disc brake specific.

29er (bicycle) - Wikipedia

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/29er_%28bicycle%29
The ability of a wheel to roll over obstacles is proportional to its size. A 29" wheel, which is about 10% larger than a 26" wheel, can roll over 10% larger obstacles. The larger diameter wheels have more angular momentum so they lose less speed to obstacles and rough sections but the same effect can be achieved with larger tires.
