The gearing doesn't really work well for the zx2, as I'm on my rev limiter in 2nd gear, but it's really slow in 3rd gear. Keep in mind that in oval track racing, we don't shift. We keep it in one gear the whole race. I'd like to build an engine for next season that can handle some extra rpms so I can run 2nd gear and be competitive.

the ztec engine has kits available in different level racing applications , one for example is a funny car setup using the zx2 engine with near unbreakable performance mods that can be removed from a blown motor and reused. The kit is extremely expensive but puts out 1500hp. It would cost twice as much to do the same to the v-tecs.
