Gt40p heads are almost always a bad idea. Between the header issues, required spring upgrades and marginal performance increase they are a waste of money and time. Anyhow I'm looking for my header options with P heads. I called Ford Racing and they only make headers for the 86-93 Stangs. I'm specifically looking for 94/95 style headers because I'm putting the 302 into my Ford Ranger. I've test fitted stock 94/95 headers and they seem to fit but they cover the spark plugs. thanks for any info Malcolm

MAC offers a coated GT40P-specific shorty and Ford Racing offers a set of stainless shorties that work. Stock Mustang headers work also. Most equal length shorties will not work. BBK equal length shorty headers have been known to fit. MAC, Hedman and BBK full length 1 5/8" headers fit.

Just removed and installed my 2 barrel intake manifold and carb on the 5.0 gt40p engine. The gt40p heads do not have emissions port on the back of the heads. I used a regular front sump aluminum pan (With proper oil pickup tube) that I welded a -6an fitting to the side and used a braded hose with a flexible dip stick to check the oil level.

Had to buy shorty plugs which are not cheap but fixed the fitting issue & worth it. I've heard multiple times that the 1-3/4" fit better than the 1-5/8" primary headers, even better on P heads.
