80% RG65 - Auckland, NZ The new rig is finished, both sails have 180mm foot, the mast is 760mm 6mm carbon tube, booms are 5 and 6mm S/S knitting needles. The boat is quite fast but needs a fair bit of wind to really fly, the drifting conditions in AKL the last few good days aren't quite enough. I'll try to get some on water pix next week.

Hi all, just finished a RG65 Racing sparrow. Balsa with 1 layer of 50g glass. Fin is 4 lamination's of 1/32 ply with 2 layers of 50g, rudder balsa with1 layer. Recessed rear deck with rudder servo sitting outside. Veneered deck and hatch. 2s 1000mAh lipo with UBEC to feed the Rx and rudder servo. Sail servo is a Corona DS339HV.

I have just completed a joint build of a Swing Rig RG65 Racing sparrow. I have to say I am very impressed with the performance, the yacht is extremely well balanced with very little weather helm and goes like the clappers (Granted I have no comparison yet...) As this yacht is sailed from our big boat we made removable foils to assist with storage

The Racing Sparrow Blog 3 months ago 80% RG65 - Auckland, NZ Hi, Ive finally completed an 80% RS 650 at 500mm o/all length, beam 120mm. Mast height will be 760mm and bulb weight 370g. 2mm balsa planking, 1.5mm balsa deck.Fin and rudder from 4mm formica (switch board material). total weight is 650g.

Deck is 1.5mm balsa with veneer strips on top. Single hatch with rubber seals and 3 hold down screws.as I fitted the rudder servo into the recessed rear deck.
