Running Nitrous Oxide requires that the timing be backed off (retarded), and a good rule of thumb is to retard the timing 1-1/2 to -2-degrees for every 50 horsepower of added nitrous. Imagine a toggle switch. Now instead of the little toggle thing sticking out that you'd flip with your finger, in it's place is a plastic rod that is about 4" long. The switch is ALWAYS closed as long as the rod is centered. It's spring loaded, and you can bend it in any direction about 1/2" or so and the switch opens.
