Raleigh backed a European-based road-racing team through the late 1970s and early 1980s. It enjoyed great success, including team wins in the Tour de France in 1977 and 1983. Raleigh also built the bike ridden to victory in the Tour by Joop Zoetemelk who rode for TI-Raleigh Creda in 1980 – the only British-built Tour winner in the race’s history.
