Needless to say he got the Reno Air Races off to a good start. The races were held September 12-20, 1964. They started with a cross country race for the Unlimiteds sponsored by Harold’s Casino. The race was from St. Petersburg FL to Reno. Eight P-51Ds started and five eventually finished the race.
