RIT Racing has its roots in the SAE Collegiate Design Series dating as far back as 1986. In 1991 the team decided to make the switch to the up and coming Formula SAE program and has been an entrant in the series for the past 29 years. Each year the team welcomes 20-30 new members to the team and has one of the highest new member retention rates on campus.

RIT Racing won first place overall at Baja SAE racing this past weekend in Tucson, Arizona, after a year of virtual competitions. Teams get last-minute instructions before heading out onto the endurance course consisting of hills, multiple obstacles, hairpin curves and other drivers. RIT Racing took second place in the event.
