We would like to say a big “Thank you” to friend Gordie Strongman for contributing these 11 color slides of photos he took mostly at San Cobble Raceway on the old Bamberton Cement Rd in Cobble Hill. This strip was run by the Quartermilers Car Club. A few are from Van Isle Dragways as well.

Dec 5, 2013. #9. San Cobble/Van Isle Drag Strip. Photo #8 in the first thread shows the Pearce & McCron dragster at Van Isle in the early 70's. Just prior to the 2002 Reunion, this car was found intact as shown in this photo. It was on display at the Reunion. Photo #9 shows the Andy Davidson dragster, circa late 60's.

I remember seeing a lot of those cars at other tracks also. Had Jim Green tell me once the final "end" of the Van Isle strip was a bluff or cliff!
