Frame feels lively and stiff, nice geometry. FSA cranks are stiff. Bike just feels fast. Bullhorns are nice. Weakness: Brake position takes some getting used to. No set up for 2nd bottles on seat tube (most good bike shops have a kit to add for the 2nd bottle cage).

Comfort and simplicity are the greatest features of the Lager. The steel frame sucks up vibrations and seems to flow the road better than an aluminum equivalent. The geometry of the bike is spot on and I’ve never felt the least bit of discomfort or lower back pain (that tends to plague me) while riding.

I also test rode the Cannondale Capo the same day. The SE Lager felt not as stiff as the Capo and probably a little more comfy, although probably not as sharp and fast as the Capo. No doubt due to its steel frame. But at $530 for the SE versus $1,500 for the Capo I dcided to go for the SE.

Lager – $520 Premium Brew – $1050 For this review I opted for the midrange priced Lager. SE’s BMX background gives them considerable experience in making strong, tough bikes and that is obviously what they went for in the Lager. The frame and fork is made of Chromoly steel which is known for it’s strength and durability.
