In 1930, the town hosted the Leinster 100 on a 13-mile circuit through Skerries, Lusk and Rush. In 1931, the race became the Leinster 200 and was held until 1935, attracting motorbike legends such as Stanley Woods, Jimmy Guthrie and Walter Rusk. After the town experienced a ten year racing hiatus, the Skerries 100 brought competitive motorbike racing back to Skerries.
