    A racer successfully negotiates a gate by crossing the imaginary line between the gate poles with both ski tips and both feet (boots), on mounted skis. There are no points for style! The racer could be skiing forward, backward, sideways, or falling through upside-down. As long as both ski tips and both feet cross the gate line, the passage is legal.
