Race Registration – New England Sled Dog Club - NESDC

Please use the form to register. You must be a member of the New England Sled Dog Club to race. If you are not a member, please go to our membership page for fees and the membership form. You only need to join once per season. Registration generally opens two Thursdays before the race date and closes the Thursday before the race.

Race Details We will be offering the following classes: One & two-dog skijor ($35), 4-dog ($35), 6-dog ($35), 8-dog ($40), three-dog junior ($10), one-dog junior ($5), recreational ($5, Saturday only). Distances will be 6.6 miles for the 6- and 8-dog classes and 3.3 miles for the 4-dog and skijor classes. Venue

Sled dog racing has a long tradition in Tamworth. Arthur T. Walden, while living in Wonalancet, developed the iconic Chinook bred, founded the New England Sled Dog Club (NESDC)in 1924, and ran the first sled dog race in the area. In 1928, Walden became the lead dog trainer and driver for Rear Admiral Richard E. Byrd’s expedition to Antarctica.
