The Soling One Meter (yes that’s the way that our American friends spell meter!) is a low cost kit, one design RC yacht which targets new skippers. It is basically the Sabot or Mirror Dinghy of RC Yachting, it allows new skippers to become involved in RC Yachting for very little cost when compared to some of the other classes raced in Australia.

Designed by Norwegian Jan Linge for the Olympics, the Soling is a fast, non sinkable, 27 foot, one ton, International One Design, racing keel-boat, that is sailed by a crew of three (with no weight limit) which can be towed by a car. Class rules allow droop hiking. The Soling is about the same length as a J80 but only 75% of its weight.

It is a one-design class and the kit and Ready-To-Sail (RTS) boats are manufactured by a single manufacturer, Victor Model Products. Some local hobby shops also have kits available.
