The 1986 series ended on a spectacular note when Warren Mockler, making his first appearance in the Valvoline “Turkey Night Grand Prix” at Ascot Park, passed five-time race winner Ron Shuman in the final turn to win the 46 th running of the classic. Shuman limped across second with a flat tire after leading 67 of the 100 laps.
