In 1939, Studebaker introduced the low-priced, six-cylinder Champion. An instant success, the Champion sold alongside the larger eight-cylinder President and six-cylinder Commander. The Dictator name, for obvious reasons, was dropped at the end of the 1937 model year. Popular Studebaker options during this period were overdrive and the Hill Holder.
