Please correct me if I'm wrong. I guess I'm of the opinion that telemark racing should be more germane to actual telemark skiing, and be structured to employ the benefits gained by using telemark gear. Perhaps the course could have some contour/traverse elements, where shuffling with a free heel is fastest (and skating is impossible).
