Torsen Limited-Slip Differential - Maximum Motorsports

This makes the Torsen differential ideal for use with fixed-mount brake calipers. While it is ideal for street use, autocrossing, and road racing, the Torsen differential is not recommended for drag strip use. The Torsen differentials fit Mustang 8.8" rear-ends, both solid axle and IRS, and are available in 28 spline and 31 spline versions.
Are Torsen diffs good? – Wazeesupperclub.com

Torsen Differentials, while not ideal for drag racing, are practical for road racing. These differentials complement a well-balanced suspension package, resulting in ideal traction for a vehicle. Of note is that the Torsen Differential can sense torque, which allows engine power to …
Switching out Torsen for something more drag friendly

Bought a track pack car with the Torsen diff and did not fully research how that would work with drag racing. I have read plenty of horror stories and am looking to replace with something better suited for sticky tire launches at the track before catastrophic failure. Car will be street driven and see some sort of F/I this winter.
Kaaz vs Torsen Differentials - Magnus Motorsports

Now for you Drag racer types, this is where you want the direct engagement of a clutch type differential like a KAAZ. The KAAZ 1.5 way and 2 way diffs, have a cam lock type of engagement. ... The Torsen type must have slippage in order for it to engage both wheels, this costs you time. KAAZ LSD’s can be rebuilt whereas Torsen types require ...

Torsen vs Trac-Lok - Factory Five Racing Forum

The Torsen did make a very noticeable difference for Auto X but really doesn't feel any different in regular street use or for drag racing. The helical gears in the Torsen are proably not as strong as the spider gears in a regular rear end but I think as long as you aren't running full drag slicks and launching at high rpm it should be fine.
Torsen Or Quaife Lsd?? | Ford Focus Forum

Using two street tires gives more traction than one drag radial. I always mix this up, so somebody correct me if I'm wrong: the Torsen L.S.D. biases at a 2 - 1 rate when wheel spin occurs, and the Quaife L.S.D. biases at 3 -1. They both are a 50/50 split between both wheels at normal straight line drag racing with no wheel spin.
Differentials: Eaton Truetrac or Powertrax No Slip?

1000+ hp drag cars are going to burn up and break limited slip rear ends, every time - which is why people usually say not to use them for drag racing. It's really just a question of scale. 9" rear ends are awesome! They are strong and reliable! But you wouldn't use one for a ten ton dump truck. This is the same thing with these limited slip units.
