The k1 boat is governed by the ICF - and cannot be longer than 5.5m ( or something close to that) - therefore it becomes an inefficient boat fo a paddler of over 85 - 90 kg. Surfski design has a lot more scope for designing craft for different mass, as there is no limitation on design - and specifically waterline length.
