Mandozine: The Virzi Vortex
https://mandozine.com/instruments/virzi.html
In this mandolin the virzi did not do its job, and I recommended removal. Before Gibson adopted the use of the virzi, it had acquired significant respect in the world of classical violin. According to the Virzi catalog from 1919, Jasha Heifez had one put in his Guarnarius. More recently, there have been a number of people who HAVE asked to have ...

However, unlike the Virzi, it has a small circular hole in the centre and two long longitudinal braces either side of it, similar to tone bar bracing.

Whether on a mandolin or a guitar, the type of wood used and the effect of the bracing patterns work the same in changing the flexibility of the soundboard. Braces running parallel with the grain have the greatest effect of stiffening and increasing the mid-range response, producing a brighter clearer tone. The more the braces are angled from ...

Created by the Virzi Brothers and patented in April 11, 1922, Lloyd Loar installed the Virzi Tone Amplifier in his Master Models.
