This is the only option for brushed motors (which are not capable of dynamic timing), and is what happens when you set your ESC in what is called “blinky mode”. Why is it called “blinky”? Simply because dynamic timing is forbidden in some racing classes, and most ESCs will have a light blinking when in that mode, so that scrutineers can easily confirm the ESC settings.

Stock class (17.5 blinky) is not a beginner class. Novice or "beginners" or sportsman or what ever your track calls it is for beginners. Stock is a very serious class, go to a Roar Stock National sometime. Spencer Rifkin, new world champ in 2wd, won the 2wd Stock Nationals. Blinky is ment for drivers to beat drivers not cars beat cars.

It’s difficult to say what will fix the situation that we’ve got now. “Blinky” mode, a specific function of the speed control in which a blinking LED denotes zero-timing has been activated, was a novel idea…but it didn’t take long for racers to be accused of cheating by manipulating the blinky mode software.

There have been guys at my local track running Novak Edges and Hobbywing Justocks and doing very very well in blinky. My preferred ESC for all blinky on road classes, however, is the Hobbywing v3.1 Stock Spec. It's lightweight, low cost, and has TONS of settings.
