Racing wheelchairs must be pushed with the athletes hands. The Athlete uses their hands and pushes against Aluminum Push Rims that are attached to each rear wheel of the racing chair. The aluminum push rim is coated with a rubber tire glued to it. The technique is to not grab the push rim but push against it. Grabbing will slow the wheel down.
