White’s Lightning 2 logo & body wrap by PDX Wraps 2020 goal was to compete in the Baja 1000 in November, that didn’t happen for several reasons but it was a good year of Jeepspeed racing at Parker, Silverstate and Vegas to Reno. Finally finished Vegas to Reno the longest offroad race in the USA and placed first in Jeepspeed 3700 class.

History of White’s Lightning: Wendell White had a love of racing at a young age growing up in Grants Pass, Oregon. He would sneak into the local midget-racing stadium to watch the races. At 16 he began racing his 49 Chevy coupe that had 3 side draft carburetors in 1954. He and his friend would work on Chevy & even put a flame job on it.

SANTA ANA, CA – Pat Rummerfield, a 45-year old recovering quadriplegic, drove White Lightning, the electric streamliner, to an FIA World Record of 245.524 MPH October 22nd at Utah’s Bonneville Salt Flats. The speedster, owned by Ed Dempsey of Santa Ana, CA, easily surpassed the existing record of 215 MPH set by Eric Lueben in 1997.

White Lightning was first conceived in 1977 as a club project by students at Northrop University. The only design criterion was to run at the highest possible speed. The final result was a two-person, three-wheel vehicle 6 m (20 ft) long, 760 mm (30 in.) high, and weighing 36 kg (80 lb).
