The new WRX is faster to 60 and to the quarter-mile. And yes, that is a quarter-mile, so it counts as drag racing. But the Korean car still wins the race due to a fundamental flaw with the Subaru. Or just do what I do, use the WRX as a daily driver and then drag race a VW bug. Fully built tranny: 1200 dollars. I've launched my car playing around a lot and well... These aren't the best cars for drag racing. Too many moving goodies, too much money to make them strong, and well... this is a better car for Auto-X then drag.

Turn off all electronic accessories (stereo, headlights, etc... all of that causes drag on the alternator. Put your stock wheels/tires on..... unless you have lighter aftermarket ones. Heavy/big wheels may improve your handling, but will DRAMATICALLY slow down your straight-line performance.

Your comparing a car model that has 35 years of development aimed directly at the American drag racer market against a car that has only 1 1/2 years of exposure to a large customer base that regularly drag races their cars. (due notice of the Australians and Brits who have been drag racing the WRX, but statistically that is a small sample)
