He said the barrel remained at the vendor X-Caliber contracts out for black nitride treatment (a service X-Caliber is not charging me for given I had the original barrel cerakoted prior to discovering it was defective). So, Mr. Berg suggested that I call back on 11/17. I did and was told that the barrel remains with the black nitride vendor.

It’s a good shooter and doesn’t seem to be a bad barrel in anyway. I would however lean more towards a Criterion barrel in that price range. I’ve heard more mixed reviews on X-Caliber than most other barrels. However, I can’t recall hearing anything bad about Criterion barrels and have heard nothing but good things about them from a lot of people.

The Roscoe 8 reviewed here is $1259, and the X-Caliber 9 Mtbr rode is $1579. However, the matching X-Caliber 8 can be had for $1069, so the price is close. The X-Caliber corners well, while the Roscoe takes advantage of any trail feature. Affordability is ground-breaking as well. And we're not talking $3000 affordable as we've done in the past.

I know I started this thread and since then I have done some testing with a new xcal blank. The barrel has been awesome, getting good speeds with lower powder charges from it. Im running a 105 hybrid at 3000fps with only 38.1 gr 4350. The barrel has been shooting consistent groups from .25 to .5 inch groups.
