Ive got an 04 XR400 and I was wondering what the optimal gearing would be for desert riding and possible racing. Looking for more top speed without losing the bottom end. I did the usual mods to it when I got it and I want to keep the motor stock. I searched for 15 minutes or so and couldnt come up with anything so any help is appreciated.

Ran a 96 XR400 for 7 years (racing and riding desert) and beat the heck out of it and it never missed a lick. Howsomever, the XR400's had a starting drill and believe it or not the drills could differ from bike to bike. So, the drill for mine was as follows; 1) When finishing a ride, kill the engine (kill button) when idelling normal.
