The Merkur XR4Ti was introduced for the 1985 model year. The XR4Ti was a performance hatchback, and was largely a European Ford Sierra XR4i rebadged for the North American market. Unlike its European sibling, the XR4Ti featured a turbocharged 2.3L inline four engine, thus the 'T' in the name. ('i' stood for fuel injection).
